OUR MISSION
The BayernMUN conference is a yearly held Model United Nations format in the city of Nuremberg, Germany. Every year, approximately 250-300 selected students and pupils participate in the conference. As a city of human rights and a place of international understanding, Nuremberg is the ideal venue for a format that also deals in depth with issues of international law.
As a student-led and student-backed project, it is important to us to make international cooperation accessible to young people and to raise awareness of its necessity. BayernMUN therefore offers young, committed school and university students a unique opportunity to gain practical insight into the workings of the United Nations, acquire diplomatic skills, and develop solutions to the problems of our time. With unique features like the Expert Panel, KeyNote Speakers, the press feature and the stunning location, BayernMUN has left a lasting impact on many delegates, some of which have kickstarted their career in international politics at this conference.
BayernMUN x UNCCD COP17
From BayernMUN to the Global Stage: Leadership starts with opportunity. BayernMUN is where that opportunity begins.
Through its official cooperation with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), BayernMUN is given the opportunity to nominate its alumni as Youth Ambassadors to UN conferences. In 2026, Max Tremel and Jessica represented BayernMUN at UNCCD COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
As accredited participants, they gained access to the Blue Zone, the official conference area where diplomats, government delegations and international organisations meet and negotiate. They became part of the G20 Youth Caucus, contributed to the drafting of an official UN resolution, engaged directly with international stakeholders and represented the BayernMUN community on the global stage.
For us, this is what BayernMUN is about: creating pathways that go far beyond three days of debate. We want talented young people to move from simulating international diplomacy to actively participating in it – meeting decision-makers, building international networks and gaining first-hand experience of global policymaking.
BayernMUN is therefore more than a Model United Nations conference. It is a gateway to international leadership, a platform for ambitious young people and, for some, the first step towards a career in diplomacy, international organisations and global affairs.Your committee room might just be the beginning..

What motivates us?
Inspired by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (UN Resolution A/RES/70/1), BayernMUN aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Nuremberg, the “City of Peace and Human Rights,” offers the ideal setting where delegates learn multilateral diplomacy and see their efforts as part of a global movement for justice, peace, and sustainability.
What we do to promote SDGs:
- Conference Topics: Committee agendas are linked to the SDGs. Background Guide Updates support delegates’ political education on the 2030 Agenda.
- Framework Program: Keynotes, panels, and workshops raise awareness and inspire students to act for the SDGs.
- Cooperation with BMZ: Working with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and Engagement Global helps us highlight key goals.
- Scholarships: We provide scholarships for outstanding volunteers and those with limited financial means, fostering SDG commitment and accessibility.
